CHAROLAIS

Donated by Polzin Cattle, Chris, Leslie, Brooke, Desirae and Colton Polzin of Darwin, Minn., on behalf of the MN/WI Charolais Association

Chris and Leslie began Polzin Cattle in 2008 and started Polzin Embryo Center in 2010. Chris grew up raising Simmental cattle with his family. After graduating from college, Chris began raising Charolais cattle. Leslie grew up in Southern California and moved to Minnesota. Their daughter, Brooke, will be a senior in high school this year. She enjoys showing cattle, livestock judging and jamming out to country music while getting her show animals to look the part. Desirae, our middle daughter, will be a freshman in high school. She strays a little bit from the day-to-day operations of the cattle but is willing to pitch in when needed. Polzin Boer Goats is Desirae’s goat operation, and she enjoys showing them along with working on improving her goat herd through AI and embryo transfer. She also enjoys playing volleyball and baking. Last, but not least, Colton, will be a 6th grader this fall. Colton prides himself on showing off his Speckle Park herd to anyone who will listen. He takes great pride in his operation, Polzin Speckle Park. He enjoys showing cattle, and pigs, riding 4-wheeler, grilling with his dad and driving his sisters crazy with his enthusiasm. 

Along with raising Charolais they also have Hereford, Red Angus and Simmental donors. Polzin Cattle prides itself on making high-quality females and industry leading bulls.

The Polzin Family is excited to continue being part of the MYBEP program.

ANGUS

Donated by Stehr Farm, Derek Stehr of Zumbrota, Minn., on behalf of the Minnesota Angus Association

Derek’s love for cattle started at a young age as he started showing as a cloverbud in 4-H. He showed at the county and state levels and quickly grew an immense love for the cattle industry. In 2014, he was blessed to be awarded an Angus heifer from Dandy Acres Angus through the MYBEP program. Since then, he has continued to show and lease his Angus cattle to showman at the county and state level. The heifer he is donating is the granddaughter of his MYBEP heifer, which he is most excited to be giving to a young aspiring cattle producer like he was.
