The Minnesota Beef Expo welcomed more than 1,100 cattle producers and 700 youth livestock exhibitors to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on Oct. 17-20, 2024. The 2024 Expo included youth contests, cattle sales, a trade show, educational seminars and a junior show where 1,136 head of cattle were exhibited.
Oct. 24, 2024: 2025 Minnesota Beef Expo Cancelled Due to Construction
For the first time in its 75-year history, the Minnesota State Fair will make a multimillion-dollar investment to significantly update the historic and iconic Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum, the home of the Minnesota Beef Expo. The safest and most efficient way to tackle this much-needed work is to close the Warner Coliseum and livestock area for approximately one year beginning April 2025. Due to this closure, there will not be a Minnesota Beef Expo in 2025. We will pause construction so shows and exhibitions can take place during the State Fair, but the Coliseum and livestock area will not be hosting any events until April 2026.
The Minnesota State Fair’s website contains more information about the projects.
Oct. 21, 2024: Minnesota Beef Expo Awards 2024 Minnesota Youth Beef Experience Program Heifers to 11 Youth
The Minnesota Beef Expo awarded 11 heifers to deserving youth through the Minnesota Youth Beef Experience Program (MYBEP) on Saturday, Oct. 19. From a pool of 77 applications, each recipient was selected based on their passion for agriculture, commitment to raising a heifer, financial need and willingness to learn. Recipients are responsible for raising, breeding and maintaining records on the care of the animal, while providing progress reports to their mentor, breed representative and Minnesota Beef Expo staff. Donors of the heifers will serve as mentors to MYBEP recipients. Since the start of the program 20 years ago, MYBEP has awarded a total of 180 heifers.
